Green Valley Greenhouse Recognized with Social Responsibility Award
2026-2027 Minnesota's Retail Champion Awards
St. Paul, MN (October 1, 2026) – Minnesota Retailers is proud to honor Green Valley Greenhouse with the Social Responsibility award as part of the 2026-2027 Minnesota’s Retail Champions program. Green Valley Greenhouse was nominated by the Minnesota Chamber Environmental Sustainability Foundation.
Green Valley Greenhouse in Ramsey has undertaken a comprehensive sustainability initiative that demonstrates how environmental stewardship and retail success can go hand in hand. The company installed a blackout curtain system that improves growing conditions while saving an estimated 1,541 dekatherms of natural gas annually. Green Valley also composts approximately 2,500 pounds of unsaleable plants and recycles more than 10,900 pounds of plastic film each year, including soil bags, pallet wrap and other packaging. Together, these initiatives are reducing waste, conserving resources and lessening the company’s environmental impact.
“Green Valley Greenhouse is demonstrating that environmental responsibility and strong business practices can grow together,” said Minnesota Retailers President Bruce Nustad. “Through thoughtful investments in energy conservation, composting and recycling, Aaron Davis and his team are producing meaningful, measurable results while strengthening the company for the future. We are proud to recognize Green Valley Greenhouse with Minnesota’s Retail Champion Social Responsibility Award.”
"Green Valley Greenhouse’s commitment to sustainability shows what’s possible when businesses decide to take their first step,” said Sydney Henderson, environmental sustainability director at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. “Their work with the Minnesota Chamber Environmental Sustainability Foundation's Waste Wise and Energy Smart projects demonstrates how smart resource management and everyday operational choices can add up to real, measurable impact."
“We are honored to receive Minnesota’s Retail Champion Social Responsibility Award. Sustainability is an ongoing commitment at Green Valley, and our team is always looking for practical ways to conserve resources, reduce waste and operate more efficiently,” said Green Valley Greenhouse owner and CEO Aaron Davis. “These initiatives are good for the environment, good for our business and good for the community we are proud to serve.”
Davis and his team will accept the award at Retail Rally on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, starting at 2:00 p.m. The event—held at Brookview in Golden Valley—will feature an insightful keynote presentation from University of St. Thomas Associate Professor Seth Ketron, Ph.D., titled “AI in the Customer Journey: Real Insights for Retail Leaders.” For more event details, visit www.retailrally.com.
